Homemade Taco Seasoning

Our local Fresh Market has their ground chuck on sale every Tuesday for $2.99/lb. Thats pretty much cheaper than anywhere in a town, plus it’s fresh market so it tastes amazing. Needless to say Tuesday nights are always taco night. Whether it’s chicken tacos, ground beef tacos or ground turkey tacos, if it’s Tuesday that’s what we’re having.

It’s been over a year since I’ve bought taco seasoning in the pack. We’ve tried really hard to cut out pre packaged things. If it can be made at home chances are I’m doing it. Below is my go to recipe for taco seasoning. Now I’m not going to lie to you and tell you it tastes JUST LIKE store bought because it doesn’t. It has less sodium, no preservatives that you can’t pronounce, and it’s a lot cheaper. We buy all of our seasonings from Sam’s Club. The Tones brand has no MSG so that’s an added plus. This recipe is enough for one pound of meat but I like to make it in large batches to keep on hand. Enjoy!

Broughton & Arrow

1 Tbsp Chili Powder

1/4 tsp Garlic Powder

1/4 tsp Onion Powder

1/4 tsp Crushed Red Pepper Flakes

1/4 tsp Dried Oregano

1/2 tsp Paprika

1 1/2 tsp Ground Cumin

1 tsp Kosher Salt(can use Sea Salt also)

1 tsp Black Pepper

Mix it all together and you’re finished!
